From Chino Valley: I found a replacement fender for my old Chevy project. I have stripped it down to bare metal. What would be the best way to get it ready for paint? Jim at KC Auto Paint: Get some DTM (direct to metal) etching primer. This will make the metal accept a primer coat with good results. Give us a call if you need more help. (928) 776-1050.

From Prescott Valley: I have a leak at the bottom of my windshield and it gets the floor wet when it rains. It's a 1997 Chevy Blazer, is this a major fix? Terri at Magic Glass: Maybe. There are two possibilities to fix it. First, and least expensive, silicone the out side edge. These windshields are glued in, even a pin hole can cause a leak. Second is remove the windshield and reseal it, however, being glued in there is a possibility it will break. It is best to have a replacement glass on hand if necessary. Give us a call (928) 541-0101.

From Prescott: I have a 1987 Kawasaki. I think it needs the heads and valves done. Who can do this? Dean Cook, owner Dean's Automotive Machine: We do motorcycle engines as well as automotive. We can even repair Aluminum motorcycle heads. Give us a call (928) 776-0132 .

From Prescott Valley: I am restoring an old Corvette, I'd like to save some work and get it blasted. What would be the best material to blast it with? Dobby, owner of Advanced Abrasive Blast: There is a media called Polyblast for fiberglass. I have used Walnuts on fiberglass and it works just as well and it is less expensive. You can also use Soda or crushed Corn Cobbs.

From Prescott: I'm getting a buzzing sound from my transmission. It runs fine otherwise. It is a 1 ton 1985 GMC Van. Steve Foubert, owner of Foubert Transmissions: If the filter on any automatic transmission is partially clogged. It will make the pressure regulator valve buzz or even have a delayed engagement into gear. Always try to change the automatic transmission filter first for symptoms like this buzzing sound.
